Hi Denise! The story of Maya is, she is a high content Arctic Wolfdog (extremely high). She was born and raised by a man who had her mom and dad as well. He lived in Pomona and unfortunately, the father would jump out of his yard, wonder and come back. He never did anything, but eventually, he was shot by the Pomona police. After that, the man gave Maya and her mom to a "rescue" called Grandmothers Rescue up in Mojove. Maya was only a year old at the time. She was there with the rest of most of the wolves and wolfdogs we have now. The lady who owned that rescue past due to an illness. We got the surviving 19, the other 22 were posioned (Maya's mom was one killed) :(( really sad .... So, she is now with us and about 8 years old. Those 19 are the main ones we got, and over time have rescued others from shelters and private owners.
